The morning is a good time for news, like Michael Jackson's alleged death. But this is a gaming site, so I'll talk about gaming issues.
For example, an issue that pisses a lot of people off, is the game classification issue, especially here in Australia where we don't have a R18+ rating. Apparently, our brilliant government is now planning on banning downloadable games which are R18+. I suppose the issue here is freedom, or the increasing lack of. If people are free to express themselves, by making these games, shouldn't other people(adults even) be free to choose? Remember, the average age of gamers is actually mid 20s. Maybe the government should focus on things like the economy or education, and leave parenting to parents. But I suppose some pollies need to justify their existence by encouraging piracy...
If anyone is (still) interested in the upcoming Windows 7, here's some pricing.
And finally, it seems that some people in the US are against their Military using video games as their latest recruiting tool. I guess they want to avoid 13 year olds signing up. Must be hard to make smaller and lighter guns... or toy trucks.
FASA Studio, the creative minds behind MechWarrior and Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, are back with Shadowrun™, the new multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) based on the much beloved RPG franchise. Shadowrun propels team-based combat into a new dimension with a revolutionary blend of moder...
Just a quick couple of unrelated news. It looks like Lucas Arts is thinking about remaking more of their good old game, but first they will need to see how their upcoming Monkey Island remake goes before they commit. Smart move George!
In other news, the VSC (British Video Standards Council) is putting together a team of three psychology and legal experts, whose job will be to examine new and upcoming games and decide which ones should be banned in the UK... That's possibly the most retarded thing I've heard today. It sounds like the start of a bad joke - a lawyer, a psychiatrist and a priest are sitting in a bar, wasting the Queen's pennies. Just further proof that you're not a proper government department unless you're haemorrhaging money profusely!
For those interested, Good Old Games is having a 10% off sale for selected strategy titles for a limited time. This DRM free game distribution website is steadily becoming more and more popular by bringing back all our old favorites! See for yourselves.
To start with, awesome news from Lucas arts, they are remaking the original Monkey Island game! !!! The game will feature a screen for screen remake, with music, graphics, art and voices completely redone (while retaining the spirit of the original game). There is even an in-game option to switch back to the original engine. The game will be available for Xbox 360 and PC.
In the recent E3, figures from Video Game industry discussed an issue which has bothered me for a long time - $$$ (moneys). With the world being in its current situation (money and all), is it really right to sell video games between $90 and $120 and consoles for $300 (In Australia)? I mean WTF!!! 1 console = 3 games? Who does these bronze age conversions? I'll trade them some canned beans and a tooth I found at the beach for a PS3...
Lastly, for those interested in high-end PC gaming, here's an interesting article aboutwhere video cards are headed. Interesting when considering the recent disagreements between Intel and Nvidia...
More to come soon.

Further to our earlier story, it now looks like 3D Realms is not actually going down, but rather the Duke Nukem Forever development team. 3D realms are now saying that Take Two, the publisher for Duke Nukem: Forever who is suing them, is just trying to avoid the fact that they only funded just over 20% of the original agreed upon cost of the development of the game. Lets see how this pans out. More info in the link below.
